Not that i'm a huge fan of causality, but: instead of supporting a belief which justifies withholding people of essentials based on intelligence, could it be that when you are deprived of basic needs such as food, water and shelter, you rely more on faith and seek religion, and at the same time, are less concerned with academic pursuits as you try to stay alive, resulting in IQ not reaching its potential?

You can't just test 1000 people out of one country and then expect to have the average... Well, i still dont get why a rank 0 posts this in the first place lol but well, let him think what he wants

So I just google around for papers written in 2009 by Lynn, Harvey, and Nyborg, and voila! Everything you need to know about the data from methodology to raw and processed results. Nice lie. Middle east poor? Now, I do agree there is a relation between atheism and intelligence. It is not based in the amount of money or knowledge available, but in atheism's nature: Atheism people "goes" against the rules, they wont believe in god because someones tell them "God exist". They actually go, research and provide facts for prove that god does not exist, while the Christians are mostly based on "believe, and it will be given". Because of kind of act (Not believing stuff because someones say it) is that atheism are more intelligent than the average people. When you ask about "why" something happens or "why" something is true AND research about it, your intelligence grows. Now, when you compare it with countries you will find that indeed, at better economy, more atheism. This is because you have access to better knowledges than poor countries, as well as you tend to avoid "ad verecundiam" types of fallacies. But this is indeed, off-topic. And of course, as the study about Intelligence vs Religion say, there are more factors (such as: Culture, Colonization, Economy....) that greatly affect the graphic. But again, off-topic. My conclusion is, that rather than economy, free sources, believes.... is the atheism's nature is what makes them intelligent. They think about "why".

For once, I agree completely with my hotheaded friend Tito. Historically, the clergy aided scientific and academic growth more than any other social group in Europe. Nowadays, we have professional scientists, but before, the clergy were society's scientists. Intelligence is subjective. Countries in poor countries aren't any less intelligent. They merely grew up in an environment that does not foster intellectual advance and logical reasoning.

no its not.intelligence can be very subjective. And yes people that grow up in an enviroment that does not foster intellectual advance and logical reasoning will be in fact stupid. No question about it.And the evidence is right on front of us.
Nice joke Historically and when it comes to all forms of science, religion is the worst thing that happened in humanity. The death, suffering, chaos, ignorance, intellectual and scientific oppresion it forced upon humanity, makes it so that the few "good deeds" become irrelevant, in the bigger picture of things.Religion has opposed virtually all scientific progress for nearly 2,000 years. Church has been attacking free knowledge and free thinking since the beggining, cause they threatened its very foundations. Not limited to christianity or islam.they both did horrendous crimes against humanity. few examples the Serapeum of Alexandria (a "daughter library" of 40,000 scrolls, founded around 200 BC) was burnt by the Christian Archbishop Theophilus in 391 AD the pagan and scientist Hypatia was martyred by Christians at Alexandria in 415 AD the final destruction of Alexandria library (debatable) by the Muslim conquest in 641 AD, because it was against the word of Alah. the burning of the two great universities of India, around 1200 by the Muslim warlord the destruction of every item of Mayan literature the subhuman religious fanatics Spaniards in 1500 mexico could find because it disagreed with their own superstitions and bullshit the catholic church was preaching them. persecuting scientists and doctors was also a practice of both Islam and Christianity. Scientists and all forms of free thinkers, were being murdered by Muslim warlords and clerics, because obviously everything they said was opposed to the words of the great Allah.medical pioneers in Bagdad and surrounding areas, like Rzazes, were tortured and murdered by clerics. We dont know so much about Middle east, cause whatever historical documents they have, they keep it secret. Most of them they just destroyed over the years though, because they are fanatic animals. We know alot about West though, where in most of the 15th 16th and 17th centuries, fear of heretics spreading teachings and opinions that contradicted the cible dominated the catholic church. they persecuted scientists who formed theories the church deemed heretical and forbade people from reading any books on those subjects .The full range of the church actions included harassment, discrimination, censorship, slander, scorn, abuse, threats, persecution, forced recantations, torture and burning at the stake. the church has also been the pillar of example of scientists who faced persecution, in the form of banned books, inprisonment and even torture and death, by the church are Michael Servetus,Nicholas Copernicus, Galileo,Marco Antonio de Dominis,Descartes, Newton, Halley, Darwin, Hubble..and so so many others. So esxcuse me but i have to disagree with you.

lol lunatic kings.almost if not EVERY SINGLE WAR until more recent times have been in the name of god and with the churches blessing or encouragement. The church was teaching whatever it wanted and banned thousands if not million books. And thousands of death and persecutions on people that dared write stuff that contradicted the holy books.
most people deny religion, because its retarded.
Wrong!Europe dismissed religion as a backwarded tool of controlling the masses and opened the way for free thinking, science, technology, litterature. The results are in front of you.And they can be seen in the graph too.You wanna know what the "poor" (metaphorically) nations of the East are doing right now? Then tell me if its the "outside" pressure, that they fail to preserve their tradiition and keeps them back from the scientific and technological and economical growth, like we have in the west. just some examples. somali islamists destroy old graves, shrines and churches every year muslim Azerbaijan destroys ancient Christian sites. the subhuman taliban scum systematically destroyed every book and artwork in Afghanistan that they deemed un-islamic including all books with pictures, and all statues in the country. they also destroyed the monumental 6th century AD Buddhas of Bamiyan (built even before Islam was invented) libyan Islamists desecrate Christian graves islamist fanatics burnt the library in Tripoli in Jan 2014. ( christian crusaders burned tripoli library in 1109) saudi muslim student in June 2014 destroyed four Buddhist statues at Sensoji Temple (one of them 300 years old) because they offended his shitty holy book indian muslim jihadists bombed the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Buddhist Mahabodhi Temple, on 7 July 2013 in Feb 2012, a mob of Islamic fascists invaded the national museum of Malvida and wrecked it.they effectively erased all evidence of the Buddhist past i think these will do.hundreds more exist. And i think i dont even have to mention ISIS and what they are doing not only to people, but destroying anything Shia muslim and christian alike or when they destroyed in Syria a 3,000 year-old Assyrian statue in May 2014.3000 fucking years old.if thats not a reason for the whole world to unite and start bombing every religious fanatic in the planet, then i dont know what is.and this is happening mostly there, because they are the only people in the planet, who are still so attached to religion.Other retarded stuff have been done by other religions also in modern times, but there are few, like the Jews that destroyed an ancient christian mosaci in Jewsrael in 2011.Or stupid native americans lol, destroying ancient monuments cause their religion said ghosts.lol.
naizs...in 2014... Religion has a dumbing effect on the people. Its no wonder. It tries to modernize now that its been proven a hoax, but its hard. You wanna know what religion tried to feed humans for fundreds of years?that the earth was flat, the earth was the centre of the universe, comets were fireballs from the hand of god, lightning was punishment from god and so was storms and bad weather, angels and demons and magic and miracles were a thing and that diseases was also a punishment from god, forbidding people to cure them in many instances.Just reading this stuff i think my IQ droped like 10 points.
the only thing i agree with you.thats very true.

Tito, you just think of religion, too closed minded in my opinion. It's ok that you have your beliefs and that you follow them but... don't try to invent some new past. Religion has always been the opposite to innovation. That doesn't mean I respect you less cause of your beliefs, that just means that the fact that religion hasn't helped us develop is totally true and history is the best proof of it. You shouldn't pretend to be blind about it. Anyway, future can be different and maybe religion could start helping in some way. Also I need to tell you that Arabia Saudi and all those countries have low IQ cuase they didn't make any effort to get rich, they were just lucky to find petrol. But as soon as they run out of it, it's game over for them. They are exploiting it too fast and you also gotta remember the kind of community they've built were you either are rich or freaking poor, just as the society back in the middle ages. I agree 110% with Khal, my new idol.

KIngs needed church aproval in most cases, to go to war.And church encouraged wars most of the times.Remember the crusades? They were pushed by the catholic church and the popes. They were the closest thing to god that existed at the time, so your argument doesnt make sense.Even worst with muslim warlords.Supposedly Allah was appearing to them, asking for blood of the infidels. So you have to choose.Either religion is a fake and clerics all throughout history, were scammers and liars.Or religion and its representatives throughout history, are responsible for hundreds of wars, torture, murders and slavery.
that is a 10 year old argument. You cant differentiate church from religion, whenever it suits your interest.Like it or not, the church and its clerics are gods representative in earth.Clerics study gods work and are responsible for passing his teachings unto the rest of the population.Moreso clerics supposedly have a deep connection with god and have his ear and act on his behalf. That being said, if clerics are gods representantive on earth, how can they commit such attrocities and so many wars and evilness in as long as 2000 years ?If even gods representatives are corrupted and evil, then something is wrong. Is god giving them bad advice? Is god bad?Or all clerics and believers misunderstood him for 2000 years.Or they just ignored him and waged wars? And if they ignored their god, whats the point in the religion anyway?
