What is the game called? Certainly looks interesting.

I'd recommend Conquer Club by the way if such games fascinate you. Think of it as RISK played like Afterwind's casual mode but with a good community. I got banned years ago for using more than one account and even though I only played a couple of games, I remember how awesome it was. Highly recommended.

My favourite game? Hmm... I have thought long and hard about this but it seems like the answer that most obviously pops into my head... although occasionally boring, it's usually a really thrilling experience that never gets old.

Try to guess. In this particular game (the most fun and sweat-inducing I've ever played in this mysterious game), I would eventually win but I had to go so I acquiesced to an alliance with my opponent. He was playing as frickin' North Korea and me as Portugal, 5k. I also beat a Europe player and was unable to utilise Africa due to my alliance with orange (I always had the upper hand but beating brown took a long while).

The game is called SimCountry and its really hard to get. I've watched almost all the helping videos and I still can't figure what to do. Which is one reason I put my country on "Automation" till I figure everything out. Fighting wars in the game is pretty wierd, but ok. To win a war you have to cause a set number of damage to an enemy country. Then that country is yours. If you happen to lose a war you die and have to start all over again. You can also use NUKES in the game, but they're really expensive and most of the time the market's out of stock for them. Yep people want their nukes. The only down side is when you use a nuke everyone online gets a message you have nuclear weapons. I fought 1 war but then I ran out of ammo to fight it so I bluffed saying I have 10x the ammount I had. Which made my opponent sign a peace treaty. Right after that I put my country under protection. (thats where other players can't attack you but you can attack them.) All I've learned about the game so far is that....... Automation is good for helping you start.

-FUCKING AWESOME, TRANSPORT TYCOON FTW-

I have a newfound respect for you, Hugosch. Have you played OpenTTD? Someone reverse-engineered the engine and made the whole thing open-source. All the graphics have been replaced as well but they look like the old ones and a bit better, even (still 16-bit style). It's a bit of a pain to put it all together but when you do, it's so frickin' worth it and you don't have to pay a penny for it. I'd recommend SimpleAI as the AI (the game doesn't come with one, not even graphics, you download them from the site because it's all modular), it is the most fair of all the full-featured AIs.

I can't limit myself to one game.

Then it wasn't your fave game, was it?

Anyway, that post gave me a feel. I've never played Desperados but I've played all three Commandos games which are basically exactly the same thing. Which reminds me that I must get hold of a copy of Desperados somewhere, it's bound to be awesome :3. However, Commandos could never reach "fave" level due to its often-annoying unpredictability and various bugs.

Nevertheless, I'll follow your lead and post another of my favourite games:

This tactical shooter was unfortunately riddled with bugs but the game was so awesome it still became a top 5 game for me. Such an intensely atmospheric but also strategically challenging game. Brilliant, it is the very definition of art. The Burma missions (it takes place in WW2) were the most thrilling and powerful and the second one is shown in this picture. I also like Iceberg and maybe the second Normandy mission, as well as the one in the town in Czechoslovakia (daylight).

If anyone can get this game I'll be surprised. But glad someone else has played this marvel.

Europa Universalis III (with the Divine Wind expansion) and Age of Empires II: Age of Kings, rather obviously for the critically-acclaimed latter game.

EUIII is an amazing game and highly recommended for anyone with even a remote interest in history. And it's fun too. One of my favourites, that's for sure, though it's a bit too hard to play with most countries and I'm fairly average in skill. :L

Diablo? Too mainstream bro. Never played it myself, but the only interesting aspect of it is the randomly generated dungeons and the multiplayer in the first game where you can actually kill the people whose servers you join... or help them. Sounds very gripping indeed.

Hearts of Iron II or Arsenal of Democracy [i]or Darkest Hour... was never my cup of tea. The level of micromanagement it requests from you is insane. The third game can hardly play on my computer so I can't comment on that. I love the historical period of the run-up to World War II, the war itself and its aftermath and would certainly enjoy the idea of being able to shape it the way I like. But the game is extremely confusing, but that might just be because I started playing Paradox games in their "third generation" (Victoria II, EUIII and HoIIII) and I'm well aware the newer ones receive some [unfair] criticism for having been "dumbed down". Nevertheless, it's probably good when you get into the thing.

As for the second game... no idea. I could never get into space sims. I tried Wing Commander once which looked pretty cool but I just couldn't handle the scale or time it takes to travel between things or, well, anything I guess.

It's much more than that, I never even played MP because it didn't attract me at all. I would just say it has one of the best atmospheres I have ever seen, just listen to the music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2evIg-aYw8
