Its just an idea, but what if there was a feature to save the game log as in the battle scene picture you see at the end of a turn and before the start of the next turn. it could be text based or just the image of the battles/movements. Expanding on this what if we can see the rolls of battles at the end of the game. they would obviously be in text as it would be resource hungry for images. Adding onto this, what if there was a game replay based on these logged games. so you can see the battle scenes at the end of the turns. Kind of like you can do in Starcraft. you can save the game and it saves all the battles and the moves you do in realtime for every player. So this should be easier as it is turn based. Please let me know what you think about this. Edit: these games could be downloaded as files, and uploaded into the game replay to be seen again. This way players can also keep a record of their favorite/best games, and we can do all kinds of stuff with this new feature.

Screenshots don't tell the whole picture though and this does it automatically for every player and their own view into a general view. and it will be upto the Amok how he wants to incorporate this. Maybe we can see the individual turns inside each turn the players do. so we can see turnblocks. there are many possibilities with this feature. it can help players train better. it makes for better games. Edit: it would also help diagnose bugs better, because we can see how the turns are played. and where the bug happened.

I have asked admins before, the response was that there is no way of implementing a script that automatically captures in game data or screenshots/recording games. This unfortunately needs to be done manually, otherwise your suggestion would be a very powerful tool to engage an audience through social media, especially when combined with an RSS data feed.

But isn't it just recording the location of units in a map? And we can use the same interface as the battle screen in between the turns. If the game is made with methods that generate the path of the units movement as vectors, then the actual path might not be visible but things like splitting and merging of units should theorietically be able to do this. Since the battle screen takes input from users. What the replay would do is just take the input from the file and display it on the battle screen just like how it does now. Except we replace the human element with a computer. Also we can see the that the when we do our moves and end turn, and refresh. The Game saves our movements. This can also be used to save our movements on a larger scale for the whole game. It should definitely be possible. Resource wise if we want to get into the technical, after the game ends the game can just flush the save file out of the system. And the user can wish to download the file or no.

The problem is having the script in the first place to integrate into the game engine whether its recording the movements or video, hopefully it will be possible with html5.
