This is pretty much copy and pasted from clan forums, hope this helps someone who wants to learn. feel free to comment with anything I should add/change Ok, so this is one tactic that you should probably keep in the back of your mind for cws These are all guidelines, and almost all have exceptions Big picture This is probably the most obvious thing, yet the thing that Ive seen the most people mess up on, and it cant cost the game. Basically it comes down to 1)reading the state of the whole game 2)reading your opponent's likely actions 3)acting Tangent, but first mental thing, CW is not 3 1v1s, it is a teamgame (obviously), where everyone interacts with more than just sending funds to east. West should be working together and helping east, and east should be helping west. It mostly depends on what is weak. Example: In this game Spain was going op against me and pressuring Heat, so Germany helped against Ukraine to help balance the game in our favor (poland and such). That allowed Heat to go op, which in turn won us the game. In this one Leo goes op and helps UK take out germany, as you can see in gothen and vienna. UK in turn, goes op against germany with Leo's help and starts bugging east, which allows turk to win east, sealing the game out Ok, now to real deal 1) Reading state of the game. I do not have any concrete examples, but basically see what is winning where. Is Spain going op, is west or east losing, is someone stackless? These are all factors that determine which team is winning or losing. A good rule of thumb is look at troop numbers. The more your team outnumbers your opponents, the more you are winning 3)Acting, this is before #2 to add meaning to #2 Ok, so now you know where you are losing and where you are winning. Your job is depends on the situation losing slightly- risks. This is where you should assume you will normally be playing from. You dont necessarily need to win outright, but you cant afford to slowly lose. The best general advice I can give is read your opponent, if you can guess where they will attack and win there, you can turn the game around to where your team has the advantage. losing very badly- go op I dont think it is possible to under stress this. The basic concept is if you continue playing the way you normally do at this point, your team will lose. This is the time to take huge risks, as if you get punished you lose, which you would've anyways. If you succeed, you can very well win the cw. This has two main variations: the good old tb-and-rush, or the hard one: speed slowroll. The speed slowroll can only really be done when you are positive your opponent is stacking cap. simply put, you take all your main enemies' stuff and ignore them and start fighting everyone else. Its like treating them as if they are already dead, and you can go back and cap them later. This has the obvious drawback that they may recover and start beating you, but if they dont you have a huge edge. No matter what you are doing, in this phase dont stack your cap. You need those units to start winning, and cant afford to respect a rush most of the time. winning- stabilize. Your team is winning, do not take unnecessary risks. We will come back to this in #2, but basically you want to deny your opponent a chance to go op and turn the game around. example) Heat's turk has capped ukr, and ukr is dead. I am germany, with 30 units, and have to defend vienna, czech, and berlin against a strong but not op west. They have all germ cities. The correct move is probably full stack Berlin, since Heat can take back what you lose, and denying the enemy berlin denies then around 20 spawn and lets you continue funding Heat, letting him win the lategame. 2) Reading your opponent This is all about assuming your opponent knows how to play big-picture. For example, if thier East is winning, you can safely assume your enemy will not take an unneccesary risk and rush you. You can take advantage of this in many ways, like reading the most likely spot for them to stack to pressure you hard, and stack it, or send your stack to cap another enemy or go op. Another commonly used counter is wall-spam, a bigwall around your opponent's cap can guarantee you safety and allow you to take all thier stuff or thier cap, depending on what side of the wall their stack is on. This is just logic-ing out your opponent's response to the big-game situation, and changing your own tactics accordingly Extension on going op example of good wall use Another usefull tip is port lockdown them, all of this is just to restrict thier movements and prevent whoever you locked down from recovering. I totally didnt steal this from clovis. IE) lock them down, make them cry inside, and when they are broken cap them. Cheers! When going op, it is very important to consider who you are fighting. Some advanced players will, when their team is guaranteed a win unless you go op, will suicide everything on your cap. reasoning: There are only a few possible results a)If you try to go op and you move stack, they cap you and win b)If you keep it stacked, you will not have gone op, and will have most of your stack lost, and they will win c)They get tbed, and you are good This is a very useful yet situational tactic, but be sure you are not just throwing the game if you use it Just always remember you have teammates, and it doesnt matter how much you win your little 1v1 if your teammates do not win. A game where everyone wins so much easier that an E v W
